Spanish jewellery designer Helena Rohner was born in the Canary Islands and later studied at London School of Economics. However it was a fortuitous trip to Florence that ignited her interest in jewellery making. Rohner’s jewellery is striking for its simplicity of line and purity of design and she likes to combine unusual materials such as wood or porcelain with sterling silver to create necklaces, rings and earrings with a uniquely contemporary look. Rohner also designs a selection of homewares including oriental style ceramic tea sets, organic shaped vases and table lamps that pay reference to Scandinavian design classics from the forties and fifties. Jewellery still remains Rohner’s main focus however, “Jewellery is a question of light, the light you add to your body.”
